Their project, &#8220;AI-driven Climate Resilience Platform for SIDS (AI4SIDS),&#8221; was chosen from 114 proposals across 62 countries for its innovative use of AI to enhance disaster response and climate resilience in Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Dr. Addison also presented at COP29, showcasing how AI4SIDS empowers communities and governments to address climate challenges effectively.\nFor more details, visit: <a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/news\/un-climate-change-technology-executive-committee-and-enterprise-neurosystem-to-award-grand-prize-for\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UNFCCC News<\/a>.\nProposal Video: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=6mTMHc8H6GE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AI4SIDS Proposal Video.<\/a><\/li>\n \t<li><strong>Best Oral Presentation Award \u2013 Climate Change (2023)<\/strong>\n<strong>Best Oral Presentation<\/strong> awarded to Dr. Letetia Addison and Prof. Patrick Hosein, at The University of the West Indies (The UWI) Research Festival for the presentation, &#8220;Comparison of Traditional Assessment and Machine Learning Models for Flood Risk Assessment in the Caribbean.&#8221; This work demonstrated innovative applications of machine learning to enhance flood risk assessments, contributing to climate resilience efforts in the Caribbean region.<\/li>\n \t<li><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">1st Place &#8211; GRD Climate Data Challenge 2022<\/strong>\n\n<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-393 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/climate.lab.tt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/unnamed-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"379\" \/>\nFirst Place awarded to Dr. Letetia Addison and her team at the 6th Growth and Resilience Dialogue for developing an innovative AI-based prototype to predict flood risks using OECS climate data variables, such as temperature and precipitation.
