Machine Learning Project for Coastal Resilience
Project Lead: Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve coastal resilience in data-sparse locations: Caribbean region case study (AI4Coasts)
Funded by: Our Shared Oceans Project Programme Direct Funding Project Award’ supported by Irish Aid through the Marine Institute in Ireland.
Collaborators: The UWI-STA, University College Dublin
Dr. Letetia Addison, Dr. Deborah Villaroel-Lamb, and Prof. Patrick Hosein,
Dr Md Salauddin, and two (2) ML Researchers including Nidia Ali-Sookhoo
18-month project to start in June 2024
Highlights:
- Assess impacts of climate change on coastal areas (e.g. threat posed to communities and marine ecosystems by flood and storm surges).
- Leverage data-driven insights using Machine Learning
- Build an open-access data repository
